History of Anfield Road football stadium in Liverpool UK
Anfield is the official stadium of Liverpool Football Club and has a capacity of roughly 45,000, ranking it the 7th largest football ground in England. Originally the home ground of Everton until they relocated to Goodison Park in 1891, Liverpool FC have called this stadium home since they formed in 1892.
Two of Anfield’s gates are named after former managers of the club, Bob Paisley and Bill Shankly. At the start of the millennium, plans were unveiled to replace this stadium, however the new owners instead decided to redevelop the ground and increase its seating capacity to around 65,000.
This ground has seen some spectacular highlights over the years including its 5th round FA cup match against Wolverhampton in 1952.
