Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and its second most densely populated city. If you are planning to visit this exquisite historical city full of charm, you may want to take the time you need to find the right accommodation options.
Located between the New Town and Old Town
The Edinburgh Waverley train station occupies a total surface of 101,000 square meters (25 acres) in the city centre and represents the second largest main line UK-based railway station, after London Waterloo, which ranks first. The site is also known as the 20th busiest rail hub in the UK and the second busiest in Scotland.
The depot is located in a steep valley situated between the New Town and the Old Town and lets the passengers admire the gorgeous surroundings. As railway travel became incredibly popular all across Great Britain, three companies decided to build rail stations in this valley in 1840s.
Three stations were the main component of a whole entitled Waverley, after the novels written by Sir Walter Scott. In 1868, North British Railway bought its competitors’ stations and decided to demolish all three, making room for the current Victorian station.
In present times, the place is still undergoing beneficial transformations. The roof glazing was already replaced with clear glass panels and chances are that the concourse of the Edinburgh Waverley train station will be refurbished in the near future. Stretching along one side of the station, Princess Street represents the main shopping street and gives you a new reason to book a great room in this area.
Select that property that makes more sense to you
Sometimes it is difficult to go through a mile long list of attractive establishments and select the one that makes more sense to you. Early pre-planning can help you avoid misguided decisions. Start by analysing the offers introduced by some of the most popular hotels, b&b’s and apartments for rent located in the city centre.
For instance, in case you want to profit from the highest level of comfort ensured by a classy hotel equipped with a swimming pool, a spa and a renovated restaurant, you could stay at The Scotsman Hotel. Motel One Edinburgh-Princes is situated in the heart of the trendy Princess Street and also represents a great pick. In case you are determined to save money and see the true face of Edinburgh, you may want to check out Haggis Hostels, a cost-effective accommodation option located close to the railway station.
Looking for affordable 5-star apartments located around the most popular tourist attractions? If that’s the case, go for one of the amazing rooms available at the Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. Last but not least, innerCityLets ensures the ultimate lodging experience. If you are looking for a home when you’re not at home, this is the place to be. Its collection of luxurious apartments will give you the chance to make an informed decision and find the most stimulating and relaxing environment for your next trip.
