The Royal Derby medical centre is one of two teaching hospitals in the city of Derby. The other one is the London Road Community Hospital. It’s the second largest healthcare facility in the East Midlands, and is one of the largest hospitals in the UK. It’s located south west of Derby city centre on Uttoxeter Road in Derbyshire, East Midlands.
It’s a major teaching centre for the University of Nottingham medical school including the graduate entry medical school. Derbyshire Children’s Hospital is co-located on the Royal Derby Hospital site. It provides general medical services, surgical, maternity, rehabilitation care and accident and emergency services.

How to reach the Royal Derby hospital, and things to see and do nearby
The hospital is conveniently located on Uttoxeter Road, just three miles from the centre of the city. It can be easily reached by car by taking the M1, A50 or A38. There are also ample bus, cycle and walking routes to the doors of the building.
There is plenty to see and do in the city itself. For example, if you stay in a bed and breakfast in the vicinity, you could visit the magnificent old country house known as Calke Abbey. Another popular spot to visit is Donington Park, which as well as being home to another splendid country house also has some excellent cycle tracks.

The hospital is easy accessible from the A38, A50 and M1 motorway at Junction 25.
Royal Derby Bus : The Royal Derby Hospital has a dedicated bus service which runs between the Royal Derby Hospital, the city centre and London Road Community Hospital.
The main train station of Derby is located only a 5 minute walk from London Rd Community Hosp.
Other major hospitals in the region are Nottingham Queen’s Medical Centre Hospital (see hotels), and Birmingam’s hospitals Queen Elizabeth in Edgbaston district, Heartlands on Bordesley Green and the City Hospital on Dudley Road.
