After spending 103 years in the Dell Stadium which seen it’s fair share of rocky club history from uncertain Division status and an unfortunate ground bombing in World War II, The Saints reigned supreme in 1976 after winning the FA Cup.
The side further emerged with the sign-up of sensational players such as Kevin Keegan, Alan Sheerer and Matt Le Tissier with many other young high-profile players opting to adorn the red and white kit to the present day.
Although much of the club’s history appeared rooted in the old Dell ground, The Saints enhanced it’s club priorities and division status. With a squad consisting of international stars, the new campaign for a brighter future was strengthened with the move to St Mary’s Stadium in 2011, recorded to be a ‘spiritual homecoming’ for the Southampton Football Club.
This new development is one of the largest football grounds in Southern England and with a capacity of almost 32,600 is classified by the UEFA as a four star rated stadium. Bowled shaped, equipped with two large screens to broadcast ground action and complete with four stands dedicated to facing Southampton areas.
