The ground has been used for many of Scotland’s international games and countless cup finals, not to mention a host of other sporting events prior to World War I. When Celtic Football Club first started out, they experienced a number of problems with the landlord of their first ground, who increased the annual rent from 50 to 450 pounds. This caused them to search elsewhere for a new stadium, which was constructed just 200 yards from their old site, at an unused brickyard.
The nickname ‘Parkhead Paradise’ was the inception of a journalist at the time, who described the new home of Celtic and their current state of affairs. Since that time, vast improvements have been made to their home and the last time it was the recipient of renovations was between 1994 and 1998.

Buses 64 and 43 will take you from the centre of Glasgow directly to the ground and if you are travelling by rail from Glasgow Central train station, jump off at either the Bridgeton or Dalmarnock stations for a ten minute walk to the park. Finding guest rooms at a bed and breakfast property in the Parkhead area shouldn’t be a problem as there is tonnes of variety.

The Celtic Glasgow football club organises guided stadium tours around the ground which takes about 90 minutes. On matchdays there are tours that last 60 minutes. Tours run every day of the week. On non-Saturday matchdays there are no tours. Making reservations ahead is wisely.
