Celtic Park Football Stadium – Home ground of Celtic Glasgow
The ground has been used for many of Scotland’s international games and countless cup finals, not to mention a host of other sporting events prior to World War I. This includes disciplines such as track cycling, rules shinty-hurling and other tracks and field sports. Celtic Park has been used for a variety of musical concerts over the years too and has seen performances from well known acts such as U2 and the Who. Celtic Football Club formed in 1887 and roughly a year later, they had moved all of their assets into the Parkhead based ground.
There are dozens of reasonably priced B&B’s and budget friendly hotels located within a mile of the stadium and this choice of accommodation for a night will provide you with everything essential to enjoy a match day break.
When Celtic Football Club first started out, they experienced a number of problems with the landlord of their first ground, who increased the annual rent from 50 to 450 pounds. This caused them to search elsewhere for a new stadium, which was constructed just 200 yards from their old site, at an unused brickyard.
The nickname ‘Parkhead Paradise’ was the inception of a journalist at the time, who described the new home of Celtic and their current state of affairs. Since that time, vast improvements have been made to their home and the last time it was the recipient of renovations was between 1994 and 1998.
You won’t struggle to find overnight accommodation for the night in Glasgow as it the biggest city in Scotland and offers everything from cheap hotels for budget travellers to prestigious five star penthouses and apartment rentals for short or long term. There are plenty of low cost B&B’s as well offering close proximity to Parkhead Paradise and much of the accommodation here offers close access to major roads.

Based on London Road, the Tollcross exit from the M74 will locate you just two miles east of the stadium. Just across the street is the city’s velodrome, called the Emirates Arena.
Buses 64 and 43 will take you from the centre of Glasgow directly to the ground and if you are travelling by rail from Glasgow Central train station, jump off at either the Bridgeton or Dalmarnock stations for a ten minute walk to the park. Finding guest rooms at a bed and breakfast property in the Parkhead area shouldn’t be a problem as there is tonnes of variety.
