Accommodation close to ICC Convention Center at B1 2EA
Looking for a reasonably priced hotel, bed and breakfast or apartment for rent ?
If you’re coming to Birmingham you’re coming to England’s second city, bursting with culture and business. The International Conference Centre (sat nav b1 2ea) is a world-class conference venue located on Broad Street, in the heart of the city. Its comprehensive facilities and its location are a draw for businesses looking to hold corporate events. Political conferences, convention, seminars, and concerts are held here as well.
You’d be hard-pressed not to find great accommodation for the night nearby. However, if you’re looking for traditional b&b’s only a few establishments are located very near. There are dozens of cheap hotels and apartments though, at competitive rates on and around Broad street. This is pretty much as close as you can get to the ICC and the central attractions.
For those who attending a convention or conference it would make life much easier to book in this area. Rooms go cheapest at the three-star hotels, of which there are many, and four-star hotels are available if you have the budget.
Staying overnight close to ICC Conference Center
Staying close to the ICC is advantageous because the area is home to so many hotspots such as the Symphony Hall (home to the famous Birmingham Symphony Orchestra), the National Sea Life Centre, O2 Academy and the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. New Street train station is just around the corner too.
This means you can get farther afield to places such as the NEC exhibition centre, or explore the countryside outside of the city, without a car. Highlights include Wyre Forest and Cannock Chase, both of which cater to the adventurous with numerous outdoor activities.
Snow Hill Station is only twenty minutes away from the International Conference Centre and has services to Warwick, where you can find the impressive Warwick Castle. It’s a top day trip location owing to its long and turbulent history. For driving visitors there are public parking services close by, especially around the Paradise Circus Queensway.
Cheap Accommodation – Where Should I Stay for one night ?
Reasonably priced accommodation for staying overnight is not hard to find. Cheap hotels, b&b’s and apartments for rent in the area are close to the shops, pubs and restaurants of Birmingham centre. Broad Street, Brindleyplace and the National Sea Life Centre are a short walk away.
Several properties provide on-site (free) car parking and free Wifi. Some feature an indoor swimming pool, gym and spa as well.
Sometimes you’ll be able to find a four-star deal but it really does depend on when you book, with prices varying from between roughly £40 (on a deal) and £130 for a standard double room. If you’re staying here for a night, the nearest public car parking facilities are located around the Paradise Circus, Brunswick street or Bishopsgate street, both between five and ten minutes away.
For those willing to walk a little further (a few minutes) there are more cheap hotels around Holloway Circus. You’ll also find more four-star rooms here to let. Some people prefer a low-key bed and breakfast, but as mentioned earlier, most are located just out of the centre of Birmingham and into some of the outer districts and residential areas.
The closest b&b is less than a miles away from the city centre but most are a bit further. That’s a twenty-minute drive or a short train journey away. Overall, a bed and breakfast may not be much cheaper due to the fierce competition between the centrally-located hotels and the travel factor. Keep in mind that many hotels offer well priced room rates which includes a breakfast as well !
Popular is also renting a fully furnished apartment for one night or the weekend (short term stay) in the city centre, as well as on or near Broad Street.
