accommodation o2 indoor arena in london ukLondon has a reputation of being one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, with people from Europe, Asia and North America frequenting the city to indulge in its unique culture and heritage. The city itself can be quite expensive to live in, so it is important for tourists to seek out affordable accommodation that will allow them to focus their budgets on the other pleasures that London has to offer. One of the most frequented locations within UK’s capital is the O2 Arena.

starBook the Cheapest Deals

Located in the Greenwich Peninsula in London, the arena gets its name from the telecom giant, O2. Since its establishment, the venue has been used to conduct some of the largest entertainment and sporting events in the world, owing to its immense size as well as capacity.

When staying for one night or the weekend in a bed and breakfast, a breakfast is served and is included in the room rate. Many well priced and low cost establishments offer also free Wifi internet access. Some have a swimming pool and gym as well.

History

The O2 Arena was commissioned to be built in 2001, with construction beginning in 2003. Although the entire project was only fully completed in 2007, once the interior of the large dome was built, it became the venue for the annual Crisis Open Christmas event, organized by the locally well-known charity, Crisis.

When it comes to seating, the complex borrows floor plans from the Manchester Arena. Seating inside can be shifted around, with even the ground surface being modifiable.

The ground surface consists of a basketball court, a conference area, concert locations, an ice rink and an exhibition area. Particular segments of the arena can also be hired out individually for private events.

Currently, it boasts of being the third most popular venue across the world with regard to music concerts, only being outranked by the Manchester Arena in Manchester city centre and Madison Square Garden in New York City. The O2 also growns in popularity as being a major sporting venue. Another major complex in the UK is the SSE Hydro in Glasgow.

Budget Friendly Places to Stay

hotelroomIndividuals visiting London, looking to stay near the O2 Arena can choose from a number of accommodation options. Apart from the four and five star hotels in and around the area, affordable lodgings for the night in the form of cheap hotels and local bed and breakfast rooms are also available.

Many of these options offer basic amenities in great locations, as well as some of the most breathtaking views of London’s city centre. Canary Wharf London Underground Station and Blackwall Station on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) are within close distance.

For those with a smaller budget we can recommend 2 star Ibis London Docklands.

Several other hotel or apartment accommodations can be found around the centre close by in the Docklands of East London near by the Canary Wharf tube station and in the Greenwich area. Some of the most popular ones are the Ibis Docklands, the Marriott West India Quay, the Britannia International Hotel and the Radisson Blue Edwardian New Providence Wharf.
