Stansted Airport, located in Essex, is the UK’s fourth busiest airport, and is situated 30 miles from central London. This airport was built on an ancient Roman burial site and its first runway was constructed in 1942 by the USAAF. It also served as a bomber airfield for the USA Army Air Forces, and the Royal Air Force, in 1943.
