Whether you’re coming for a city break or here on business, Leeds is a great place to stay. There are simply tons of things to do here. It must be said that one of the main draws is its shopping opportunities. In the city centre there’s the Trinity shopping complex, which has over 100 retail outlets inside.
Just outside is Briggate, the famous street where many top designer shops can be found, along with some of the North’s finest street musicians (Briggate is the most popular busking location). Walk a couple of streets over and you’ll hit the Kirkgate market. This is one of Europe’s most impressive indoor markets, full of vintage boutiques and exotic food stalls. The city’s Victorian spirit can be felt in this building, which dates back to 1857.
Due to the large student population, Leeds also has great nightlife as well as a busy arts and music scene. Some of the most popular places can be found on Call Lane and the surrounding streets, where clubs and bars are densely packed in competition.
The main art gallery is situated on The Headrow, and has some fine pieces, but you’ll also find several smaller and more contemporary galleries dotted around.
Keep an eye out for value last minute deals too, because many of these central hotels have them. Be prepared to look farther away if you want reasonably priced b&b’s of course, as they tend to be located in the more residential districts. The closest traditional bed and breakfast is in Headingley, a couple of miles from the centre, so not ideal for a last minute stay.
However, if you’re visiting for a longer period of time then the b&b’s and guest houses located in the quieter areas might suit you. It’s also worth taking this into account if you’re trying to track down family rooms; the centre is noisy and not always the best place for kids.
The same goes if you’re attending a sporting event. Headingley is a good bet because that’s where the rugby and cricket grounds are situated. Worth considering is that many central located properties in the city center offer well priced room rates which includes a breakfast as well.
A property with very cheap rates is 3 star budget Jurys Inn. This low cost hotel is located in Brewery Wharf, near by the business districts, restaurants, bars, museums and galleries. One of the cheapest hotels is budget 2 star Discovery Inn. This cheap accommodation is situated in the city centre adjacent to the train station.
Another property with great value room rates is very popular 3 star Express by Holiday Inn City Centre Armouries. This very popular overnight accommodation is situated in central Leeds (Clarence Dock), right next to the Royal Armouries Museum.
Check also rates for one of the most popular hotels in Leeds : Novotel Centre. This cheaper establishment is located at Whitehall Quay, close to the railway station. At this property up to 2 children (under 16 years) can stay free for the night (with breakfast) when sharing a room with adults.

Leeds (City) Railway Station is the mainline station. The station is well connected by rail to various destinations across England and Scotland. Central London, Bristol and Clifton, Plymouth Harbour area, Birmingham City Centre, Central Liverpool and the seaside town of Scarborough can easily be reached by train.
The station is also the hub of the MetroTrain network in West Yorkshire. It’s one of the busiest railway stations outside of London. Only Birmingham New Street Railway Station (see hotels) and Glasgow Central Station in Scotland are more busy.
