What to do and see while staying near the uni campus

Leeds is sometimes referred to as the ‘London of the North’, and offers visitors a huge variety of attractions, shopping, restaurants and nightlife. The historic city centre is easy to explore on foot, taking in the monumental architecture of the Town Hall and the shopping opportunities in the Victoria Quarter with its glamorous arcades.

Leeds has several museums and art galleries, including the Royal Armouries and the Thackerey and City Museums. There are also attractions dedicated to its industrial heritage. Armley Mills, situated on the newly redeveloped canal side area, is housed in what was the world’s largest woollen mill.

For evening entertainment visitors will find many nightclubs as well as opera, ballet, film, cabaret and concerts. Sports enthusiasts will find the city has much to offer.

It is home to Yorkshire County Cricket Club, based at the famous Headingly Cricket Ground, as well as the Elland Road Football Stadium, both of which can be visited.
