Leeds has excellent transport links
Leeds St James’s University Hospital is situated north-east of Leeds city centre. It is popularly known as Jimmy’s and is one of the United Kingdom’s most famous hospitals. Jimmy’s Hospital is part of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, along with the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI), Seacroft Hospital, Wharfedale Hospital, and Chapel Allerton Hospital.
Leeds University has a presence at the hospital with its molecular medicine research centre. In the Thackrey Museum you will find all manner of gruesome medical exhibits and can experience life as a Victorian child or a mill worker. Children love a visit here. From the city centre take the shuttle boat to visit Brewery Wharf and Clarence Dock, where you will find the Royal Armouries Museum. Displayed here are Henry VIII’s large suit of armour and the world’s only surviving elephant armour.
When you are ready to do some shopping you will find a wide selection, from the high end shops of the elegant Victoria Arcade to the easier on your pocket Kirkgate Market, home to the first Marks and Spencers.
