Christmas Shopping in Manchester

accommodation manchesterIn Manchester City Centre there are most of the well-known high street brands in and around The Arndale Centre as well as designer shops and boutiques in the Deansgate area. Exchange Square features a large Selfridges department store and there are lots of places to do vintage shopping.

starGet Best Accommodation

The nearby Trafford Centre is a shopping mecca and the perfect spot for a bit of retail therapy. After a day of shopping return to your cheap accommodation to prepare for another day. Cheap hotels are always available with rooms found in central Manchester offering accommodation and deals that often include breakfast.

Stay in over the Holidays

guest roomThere are a number of hotels, b&b’s and apartments to rent in Manchester to stay in over the Christmas holidays and New Year’s Eve celebrations and parties, depending on your budget. Renting a city centre apartment is relatively inexpensive and offers a slice of city living, perfect for a family or larger groups.

In the leafier suburbs such as Wilmslow or Didsbury you can find more traditional guesthouses and hotels. There are also cheap chain hotels around the city and the great transport links mean you’ll be well-connected wherever you stay. Some cosy bed and breakfast will serve a tasty breakfast in the morning.

Although it’s a big city with the vibe to go alongside that, travel just 20 minutes out of the city and you find yourself in leafy Cheshire – home to WAGs, footballers and great beauty salons.

The Northern Quarter

This is the coolest area of Manchester, located centrally, there are numerous bars, some of the best clubs and restaurants to visit. There are many delicious Thai, Indian and Japanese restaurants in this area as well as hip bars and club nights.

You can also Christmas shop in the boutiques of this area and have a tea and cake at one of many cafes.

Manchester’s Musical Heritage

You can’t talk about Manchester without mentioning the many bands and musicians that come from here. Factory Records, owned by Tony Wilson, still stands (now as a club).

The world famous Hacienda sadly is no longer open, but you can still see the site at the Hacienda apartments. Bands Oasis, The Happy Mondays, Joy Division, The Smiths, Simply Red and Take that are all from the area.

For gigs there’s The Academy or the MEN to see big stars.

Festivities are held all over the city
