Welcome to Lancaster, a city characterised by history and intrigue. A city characterised by history and intrigue
Lancaster is a realm of stunning architecture and this can be enjoyed by visiting the university, castle, memorial and numerous location around the city centre. Evidence depicted from Roman coins suggests that this town dates back to before the 1st century AD, when there was a small fort on the same hill which is now occupied by the castle.
Archaeological evidence also suggests that there was a monastery present here from around the 7th or 8th centuries and although there is little documentation to suggest inhabitance of this town between the 5th and 11th centuries, many historians believe there was a colony present.

The city centre is accessible via the A6 road and this town can also be accessed from the M6 motorway which passes to the east of the town. Blackpool hotels and beaches are within easy reach as well.
So whether you are looking for cheap hotels and low cost b&b’s for one night or something a little more upmarket, you will find what you are searching for.
Due to the volume of accommodation here, finding last minute rooms will not present many challenges, even if you have to settle for a modest bed and breakfast. There is plenty in this beautiful city to keep you occupied including regular live performances at the Dukes and the Grand Theatre.
There are also a number of incredible performances which can be enjoyed at the universityvenues such as peter Scott Gallery and Nuffield Theatre. The arts community in this city is huge and for 1 night in November, one of the most impressive firework displays in the north west occurs here.
