Where to stay for a night, weekend or longer
One option of grand accommodation options is the 5 star Savoy hotel. It’s grandeur has never faded in the 120 years it has existed and it was taken to a class of its own with the most ambitious renovations Britain has ever seen. It is located right on the Thames in the heart of the city. It is in between Mayfair and the City and has Covent Garden as an immediate on the Strand.
There’s a choice of 268 guest rooms to let including 62 luxurious five star suites that combine modern traditional Edwardian decor and ultra-modern amenities.
Another grand hotel looking River Thames that will also put you in lap of luxury is the Corinthia Hotel. Located in the middle of Westminister, it also combines tradition in the styling and modernity in the amenities provided.
You will also have a grand time when you step off the tube at Euston if you choose to stay at Claridge’s in the heart of Mayfair. It is a short walk from Hyde Park and it is a lovely display of English style. Amenities include the Fumoir, high tea in the afternoons, Clarridge’s bar and a top-of-the-class spa and health club.
If you are on a budget, there are a number of cheap hotels and bed and breakfast rooms. A favorite is Ibis Hotel Euston which is just a short distance away from the tube. There are 380 air-conditioned low cost rooms including eight tailored for guests with disabilities.
You will also get a good night’s sleep at very affordable rates when you step off the train if you stay at Travelodge London Battersea. It’s near River Thames and within walking distance of Clapham Junction rail station.
Also comfortable and affordable are other Travelodge hotels which are on City Road, Grafton Place, Willing House, 202-206 Union Street,Hartmann Road and 10 Drury Lane among other locations.
There are also several reasonably priced b&b’s that you can stay for a night and see the city for less. The small and friendly Dover is one option and there is also family-run Knightsbridge Green Hotel near Harrods. Recently refurbished, it is centrally located close to transport, exhibition centres and major attractions. Marble Arch Inn, Adria Hotel and Anwar House are three other lovely options.
If you want a home away from home and not at a bed and breakfast or hotel property, go for serviced apartments for rent such as studios 2 Let, Think Bermondsey Street, brand new The Minories or SACO Spitalfields apartments.
If you are able and willing to splurge, there are upmarket luxury 5 star hotels. Many properties offer free Wifi, some have family rooms and a swimming pool, spa and fitness centre as well.
