Bursting with History
Steeped in monastic and royal history, the Abbey Church and Palace are fascinating buildings to visit. The ruined Abbey is the burial place for many of Scotland’s kings and queens including Robert the Bruce. Philanthropist Andrew Carnegie stared life here before venturing off to America and becoming one of the world’s richest men. His life is celebrated at the place of his birth in a humble weaver’s cottage, it is now a museum and presents a snapshot of life from the early 1800s.
