Few handy tips to find budget friendly properties
1. Plan and pay for your stay ahead of time
You’ll get the best rates on hotels if you book ahead of time. If your schedule is flexible, consider looking at availability of Bridgend accommodation and asking prices before finalising dates for your break. If you book a stay a significant stretch of time before you intend to travel, consider pre-payment as well. Although you won’t be able to enjoy the safety net of a full refund, paying ahead of time will yield even more savings for you.
2. Opt for a bare-bones stay in Bridgend
It’s tempting to load up on extras when making your reservation for Bridgend hotels or b&b’s, but these can quickly stack up and turn a cheap deal on rooms into a mammoth financial burden. If you’re staying in this part of South Wales for longer, avoid opting in for those occasional extras, be it access to the mini bar, the laundry service, or on demand movies and media.
The odd treat is fine, but turn to them too regularly and your travel budget will be gone before you know it.
3. Always opt for self-catering
Unless breakfast and extras are included in the cost of your reservation, don’t be tempted to opt in for extras when staying at a bed and breakfast or hotel. £10 might seem reasonable for a breakfast, but you can get much more from your money at local cafes and eateries. Besides, if you’re visiting for a break, it makes sense to get out and explore the town and devour everything that’s on offer.
A traditional b&b is usually the best way to go if you want some catering included without a sky-high premium.
4. Get brilliant deals on business accommodation
Business hotels are always a worthwhile alternative to everyday guest accommodation. While they don’t offer the home comforts of bed and breakfast and more familiar hotel accommodation, there’s no shortage of conveniences on offer.
What’s more, when you book rooms outside of peak season at these type of hotels, you can yield some seriously impressive savings. Perfect if you’re looking to free up your budget to spend yourself and family when staying in Bridgend.
5. Be flexible on location with your own transport
Hotel rates in Bridgend don’t command the same premium as Cardiff and other large towns and cities in Wales, but if you’re hoping to stay in the heart of town, expect to pay more for the privelege.
If you’re serious about making a serious saving, it pays to be more flexible with location. The local public transport system is average, while taxi fares are reasonable, but if you want to be able to pocket the best savings, it makes sense to bring your own transport. This way, you’ll be able to nab cheap rates on rooms away from the centre of town, without having to keep away from the action.
