Why West Yorkshire ?
Walkers, shoppers, historians, music fans and road-trippers can all find a place here. The Leeds music scene is one of the most iconic in the UK, as home to Kaiser Chiefs, Alt-J and limitless other bands, attracting a vibrant and youthful vibe to the city.
Seeing a live gig here would really enhance anyone’s stay in West Yorkshire. Access to Leeds, Sheffield and other major cities in the county caters to any budget when it comes to shopping. Making a trip to Meadowhall Shopping Centre will feature on most itineraries (and attracts people from all over the country) for a good reason.
The Piece Hall, Halifax is also a shopper’s dream, with exclusively independent shops and boutiques ranging from handmade glass to vintage clothes. Aside from these destinations, further out of town there are places to suit any member of the family. Another World Adventure Park (offering activities from skiing to archery) and Xplore indoor play (multi-floor play area for kids under 12) are popular activities for families, but by no means are the only options.
Where to Stay ?
The traditional idea of English B&B culture is still seen in the massive range, spanning both a huge price range and the breadth of West Yorkshire, of Bed and Breakfast style accommodation. Ranging from cheap and cheerful properties to more impressive suites in country houses (like Ashmount Country House which is one of the best value B&B in West Yorkshire), a B&B can be found for any price range.
If you are looking for a cheap boutique bed and breakfast, the Sunnybank Boutique has stunning views, close proximity to the Peak District National Park and beautiful suites. Don’t hesitate to ask your bed and breakfast host for tips for your travels.
Similarly, you are able to rent smaller spaces on a budget or even lavish country homes to yourselves. The plethora of modern, boutique or rustic style property allows you to perfectly cater to your lifestyle and your plans for your trip. Barn conversions with luxurious amenities (even your own spa style hot tubs) or smaller apartment shares suit any party size, and this is an increasingly popular way to holiday.
If a Bed and Breakfast is not the style of accommodation that you’re looking for, peruse the variety of hotels available for your stay: spa hotels offering a wide range of spa treatments, boutique living in city centre hotels and well-known chain hotels.
Regardless of whether your priority is spa facilities, convenience to access cities, a cheap stay or for a secluded escape, there is no shortage of places to stay. So many locations mean that you can break up your trip into multiple cheap overnight locations easily, which is one of the best ways to see an area. The amount of options ensures that you can achieve this on any budget.
Another accommodation choice is the hostel. These are often cheap and include a B&B style setup making bed and breakfast even more budget friendly. Perfect for walkers and young people especially, these are a great alternative to hotels, as you can travel light and book easily.
Rental houses and cottages with true country character can be found in towns and villages either cheaply for more basic properties or more suited to a larger budget. These can have swimming pools and hot tubs to create the spa experience in your own home-away-from-home.
This is one of the best ways to feel at home when travelling, and is easy too as you simply input your desired location and budget and dive into the countryside- or the city if you prefer. Being in a house, without the reduced privacy of the B&B aspect, allows you to immerse yourself in these places at your own pace. Most owners of the accommodation will give you advice of what to do in the area if you only ask, so trust the locals.
