Milton Keynes is situated in north Buckinghamshire, South East England on the M1 and was founded in 1967. During it’s construction it was often referred to as a ‘new town’ with the original purpose intended to ease the growing housing congestion in London. It was an exciting development and many well known architects and designers worked on the construction of this city.
Excavation of the site which was mainly farmland, uncovered some interesting historical finds of the first human settlements dating back to the Middle Stone Age. Bronze jewellery and Roman coins were also uncovered.
Today, wonderful historical examples of Milton Keynes history blend seamlessly with more modern constructions. It is a fantastic place to explore culturally and has everything from theatre, museums, shopping, parks and lakes to keep you entertained. The town is great for sports. At MK hub entertainment centre, Xscape, you are able to practice skiing and snow-boarding. It houses also Airkix Indoor Skydiving centre. Head to Willen Lake for water-skiing and wakeboarding.
Large events are held at the National Bowl, located on the town’s outskirts. Bletchley Park, where the German Enigma code was cracked during World War II is nearby. To the north-west is famous Silverstone Race Circuit, home of the British Grand Prix.

If you want to wind down with something more peaceful and tranquil visit Stowe Landscape Gardens which is great for a day out or perhaps take in some history from one of the market towns such as Newport Pagnell.
