The Lyceum Theatre in West End London
The Lyceum Theatre is a theater located in West End London. Currently it’s the home of the Disney award winning musical The Lion King. It’s a 2082 seat music venue. Several bed and breakfast or hotel accommodation can be found nearby such as the Strand Palace Hotel and cheap Hotel Strand Continental.
Combining dazzling staging and highly imaginative costumes, masks and puppets, this astonishing show at the Lyceum theater uses breathtaking theatrical magic to tell the story of Simba. The Lion King musical is based on the book by Roger Allers and Irene Mecchi. Songs are from Elton John and Tim Rice. Additional songs by Lebo M, Julie Taymor, Mark Mancina, Hans Zimmer.
On arriving at the venue, remember that just going inside the building is itself an experience. In 1834, the architect Samuel Beazly designed the grand classical portico that greets every visitor at its entrance. Amenities include a drinks’ bar for patrons. Whether you have chosen seats in the stalls, grand circle or have booked one of the boxes, your party will have a superb view of the performance.
Before the curtain rises, look around at the red and gilt décor of the interior, which adds to the enjoyment of the evening. Presently, the auditorium will darken, the music will begin to play and the curtains lift to revel the extravagant set of one of the most successful musical shows, ever.
You can book show tickets online, in the foyer box office or through one of several official ticket agencies. With a high demand for shows like the Lion King, it is advisable to buy or book your seats well in advance of a trip. While online, explore the type of hotel and bed and breakfast rooms available.
Places to Stay around Wellington Street – The Strand
With hundreds of planes flying into the capital daily, actual travelling should not be a problem.
If travelling at low season, like spring and autumn, you can simply arrive in the capital and explore the entertainment on offer when you get there. Cut-price seats for all major shows are on offer from the Box Office on Leicester Square, but the exact one you want may not be available on that day.
Once comfortably settled, it is time to have fun in London. Be aware that many other attractions, like art galleries and parks, exist in the capital. Wherever you are staying, you will be able to take a taxi, bus or Underground train to all of them and of course, to your show.
If your performance is a matinee, you will want to dine out in the evening, and if you are going to an evening performance, you will want to enjoy lunch beforehand. Not to worry; you will find an abundance of local and international restaurants and cafés, catering to every taste and suiting every pocket, in the centre of the capital.
