Book budget hotel room well in advance
UK’s largest annual fireworks display, presented by the Mayor of London, is taking place on 31 December 2018 at the London Eye. The best firework viewing locations are sectioned off, you will need a ticket. All of these viewing locations have guaranteed amazing views of the display. There will be five viewing areas along the Thames and on Waterloo Bridge and Westminster Bridge, as well as an accessible viewing area.
Plenty of other festivities are taking place across the capital city. Popular are dinner cruises down the Thames, special New Year’s Eve club nights in various clubs and discos or enjoying a New Year’s Eve meal in one of the city’s restaurants.
London is a pricey city. Accommodation costs can equal those of Tokyo and New York. Providentially there are lots of economical options to high-end hotel rooms. Lodging in a budget hotel allows you pass up those high prices. Be sure to book well in advance for NYE as hotel rooms, b&b’s and apartments for rent can sell out very quickly during the end of the year.
Sort out precisely what goes well with your requirements
If you intend to take a little Christmas or NYE tour to London with your family, it is indispensable to sort out precisely what class of London hotel brand goes well with your requirements. Identify how much money you are willing to use before making a decision.
For instance, if you are a young person looking for a cheap hotel that also has b&b, London is packed with youth hotels that also offer bed and breakfast that will more than suit your requirements.
In case you are searching for cheap places with no the backpacking connotations, it is best to go for the hotel chains where they will offer you an inexpensive room that basically gives you a bed to spend the night. When travelling with the family or larger group, a self catering apartment rental can be the best solution. Fully furnished apartments are spread all over London, all within easy reach of the New Years Eve fireworks display.
Celebrations and Fireworks Display
Celebrations : festivities are held at New Year Eve all over London. Many bars, pubs, clubs, disco and hotels hold their own party and firework display as well.
The main annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks display is launched over the Thames on December 31 at the foot of the London Eye next to the Clock Tower of Big Ben.
The display is visible from most of central London, but the best views are right on the bank of the River Thames from Victoria Embankment, the South Bank, and Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge.
Trafalgar Square used to be the focal point for the London NYE celebrations with a huge fireworks display. Nowadays nothing is happening there anymore although there is usually a large screen to see the fireworks happening on the South Bank.
Trafalgar Square
Places to visit during you stay on New Year’s Eve
The Trafalgar Square is a public place and is an essential tourist allure on the central part of London that rivals the London Eye. There are several locations in this public place which you can tour and explore. They include:
a. National Gallery-The gallery is reputed for having some of the best work of arts across Europe. This place is home to some sculptures and paintings that back date to the late 10th century. In line with an official guesstimate, there are around 2600 paintings that are displayed at this place. Some of them were painted by some of the greatest painters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Van Gogh, and many others.
b. St. Martin’s in the Field: As another main attraction at the Trafalgar Square. This church is located in the North-eastern part of London, and it is just a walking distance from the National Gallery. The church was erected during the 18th Century’s first half. It is acknowledged for its structural design and served as the model for lots of churches that were later built in the United States.
c. Nelson’s Column – This is a major attraction near Trafalgar Square. There is a big sculpture of Lord Nelson who conquered the soldiers of Napoleon in 1806 and was later buried at the St. Paul’s Cathedral. At the statue’s base, there are four large lions made from bronze which imply the courage, motivation, strength, and fierceness.
