Celebrations : Scotland’s world-famous New Year festival is called Edinburgh’s Hogmaney. The festivities last for three days with spectacular events, dancing, music and fireworks.

Where : The event takes place in the heart of the City Centre with Edinburgh Castle as a backdrop and includes four stages: Mound Stage, Waverley Street Stage, Castle Street Stage and Frederick Street Stage.

Some highlights of the festival are The Torchlight Procession (29th of December), The Night Afore celebrations (30th of December) and the Hogmanay Street party and concert in Princes Street Gardens (31st of December).

Many bars and hotels hold their own party and firework display as well. A popular area is Bourbon Street.

Christmas Market : the annual Edinburgh European Christmas Market is held at East Princes St Gardens from the November to January 2019.
