Located right on the edge of a forest, Bracknell town in the county of Berkshire goes back centuries ago to the iron age which is evidenced by a nearby old fort. The name town’s name which was ‘braccan heal’ back then was first seen in an Anglo-Saxon document. It referred to it as a landmark situated on the boundary between Warfield and Winkfield.

Cheap Accommodation in Bracknell Berkshire
As for getting there and around, you can do so safely and cheaply by bus, taxi or catching a train at the train station. The train station is centrally located on Market Street in the town centre.
It is believed that the meaning of the name given to this town is ‘a piece of land belonging to Bracca on a projecting spur of the parish’. Other mentions of the town were made in 1086 in the Domesday-book which mentioned Easthampstead which means ‘the homestead by the gate’. This part of Berkshire was the Royal Forest of Windsor.
Old Bracknell is also mentioned in a 1463 Goring charter and in 1607 on Norden’s map. As at 1847, Bracknell was a tiny village located on the main road leading to the west of England. In 1948, a decision was made that the village would become a New Town that offered the benefits of city life with the best of the country.
The first neighbourhood of Priestwood came up in 1951. In 1974, Bracknell Forest was formed and in 1998, it became a Unitary Authority.
Shoppers will love Charles Square and Princess Square while sports lovers will enjoy all the facilities at the John Nike Leisure Sporting Complex where a favorite attraction is the ice rink. Apart from the ice rink, there are facilities for skiing, snooker and snowboarding. Another place where a good time is guaranteed is the Horseshoe Lake Watersports Centre that is the picturesque rural area.
It is a 22-acre with woodland and a nature reserve right by River Blackwater. Watersports lovers can enjoy windsurfing or taking out a canoe or dinghy. Another top spot is Coral Reef Waterworldwhere young ones have their own swimming pool while adults venture into the rapids and snake flumes or enjoy a session at the sauna or Japanese steam room.
There’s also Legoland where more than 35 million Lego pieces have been assembled to recreate 50 places in Europe. There are also no less than 50 rides, live shows, an indoor rain forest, a train and other attractions in the 150-acre park. To the south is the town of Camberley in Surrey and Guildford, located alongside the A3 road.
