Around the football ground you will find a good standard of hotels and bed and breakfast overnight accommodation. On match days a regular bus service runs from Stoke-on-Trent Railway Station, which provides access from local areas as well as London, Manchester and Crewe. Local buses run from the city centre to the stadium at all times. When arriving at the club by car you will find plenty of parking options both at the stadium and nearby. There are several pedestrian routes, including a pleasant walk along the Trent and Mersey Canal towpath.

Why not come to Stoke-on-Trent to watch your football team play, book rooms and then stay for a few days and enjoy this pleasant city with its riverside and canal bank walks. Since the 17th century the area has seen the industrial scale production of pottery and china and was the home to such companies as Royal Doulton, Spode, Wedgewood and Minton amongst others.

Many potteries are still in active production and most are open to visitors and offer tours, including the famous Wedgewood factory. The Wedgewood empire sits in an attractive park and has an excellent interactive museum documenting the life of Josiah Wedgewood, his involvement in canal building and his vociferous opposition to slavery. If you want to find out more, the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery and the Gladstone Pottery Museum will fill in any gaps.

Coal mining was another major employer in the area although the mines have now all gone. A local nature reserve is open to visitors on the former site of the Chatterly Whitfield Mine. The Elizabethan Ford Green Hall, in the local village of Smallthorne, is an attractive 17th century farmhouse which is open to visitors and houses a museum.

When you are ready for something a little more adventurous head to Alton Towers theme park and its white-knuckle rides. Brave the vertical drop of the Oblivion or the force of Rita, The Queen of Speed Catapult. Visitors with children will find plenty of activity at the Waterworld complex of indoor swimming pools.

It is well worth spending a day or two exploring the countryside around Stoke, Westport Lake, the sandstone canyons of Park Hall Country Park and the Victorian Burslem Park are all worth visiting.
