How to get to the site


Glastonbury has been running since 1970, when it attracted 1,500 people. The event sell out in minutes and see 175,000 people attend across the weekend. The entire site covers 900 acres and features a range of acts and entertainment for the whole family, whether you prefer mainstream or alternative culture.

Those travelling to the festival ground need to plan ahead, as roads around the site become extremely congested at the start and end of the festival. The festival organisers encourage as many visitors as possible to go via public transport.

This not only reduces the number of vehicles on nearby roads, but it also helps limit the environmental impact. Those using public transport will be entitled to discounts once on the site. There is a shuttle bus provided for free from Castle Cary train station during the festival, which transports visitors direct to the site.

There are also coach services that run from across the country and drop people off at the gates. For those travelling from further afield, the nearest airport is Bristol International.

Location 

The festival in 2024 is held at Worthy Farm in South West England, between the small villages of Pilton, Somerset and Pylle, six miles east of the town of Glastonbury. The nearest town to the festival site is Shepton Mallet, three miles north east of the festival site.
