starGet the Best Deals

The original airport, which simply consisted of a hangar, workshops, garage and a humble grass runway, started life in the mid 1930s and cost roughly £35,000 to build.

By the 1950s, this terminal was being used for package holidays to locations such as the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, a business venture which increased passenger figures to over 5000 annually.

The 1960s saw the construction of a new runway and control tower and by the 1970s, this airport was upgraded to a regional international status, as it made several weekly flights to the US, increasing passenger numbers to more than 700,000 a year. It is now one of the most eco friendly airport terminals in the country and recycled more than 80% of its waste in 2010.

The Newcastle airport terminal is very easy to get to by road or rail. Once arriving in the city by train, the airport is well sign posted and there is a shuttle service which makes regular passes by some of the cheap hotels and other overnight accommodation.

The closest major road to this terminal is the A1, which is well documented in all AA road maps if you are travelling by car. Once you arrive, you can literally park & fly as there are thousands of long term parking spaces available starting fro as little as £25 for three days. Parking is also available at many of the cheap hotels and affordable B&B’s near the terminal.

Finding reasonably priced accommodation to let near the Newcastle airport terminal is the ideal way to ensure you arrive for your flight in good time and will remove the hassle of being rushed around on the day of your departure. There are dozens of low cost B&B’s within driving range of NCL and you can always enquire about the frequent shuttle service, bus transport. With a bed and breakfast, there are no added unnecessaries and no hidden surprises, just simple, mandatory overnight accommodation. Newcastle locals are renowned for their friendly, approachable attitude, so you can always request a member of staff phones a taxi for you before leaving to board your flight.

When staying in the city centre for a night or the weekend, be sure to check apartment rentals as well. Finding the most convenient guest rooms in the area won’t be difficult as there are five terminal hotels which offer park & fly packages.
