Located in Berkshire England UK

bed and breakfastThis famous horse racing complex, founded by Queen Anne in 1711, is home to top quality Flat and Jump racing throughout the year. Two of the most prestigious races are the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, but the highlight is the Royal Ascot week in June.

starBook the Best Deals

The Racecourse is situated in the town of Ascot, approximately 45 minutes from London by car or train and easily accessible from the M3, M4, M40 and M25. It’s also located six miles from Windsor Castle and Legoland Windsor themepark.

Several hotel accommodations can be found in the town centre on London Road, Larch Avenue and Bagshot Road. More hotels are located in the towns of Bracknell and Bagshot or stay in London, a 45 minutes away.

Within easy driving distance are several first class golf courses. Many properties are well priced and provide free car parking and free Wi-Fi access, some have an indoor swimming pool and health club. Stay in a historical manor, styled like a French chateau, traditional English pub, in an elegant country house, a cosy b&b or great value hotel.

Where to Stay for 1 night, weekend or longer

place to stayThere is a good mix of options from rooms that are fit for the Royal family and holiday makers who want to indulge themselves and less costly choices in form of cheap hotels, inns, and affordable b&b’s. One option that is fit for the Queen is Royal Berkshire. This exclusive country house hotel is set on 15 acres of magnificent, picturesque gardens in the heart of the Berkshire countryside.

It still has the character it had when it was built in 1805 for the Churchill family. There is a choice of 63 guest rooms to let and a manor that has traditionally styled rooms with an ultra-modern wing. There is also a health club with sauna, indoor swimming pool, gym, tennis courts and croquet lawn.

Another top-of-the-class accommodation facility is the MacDonald Berystede Hotel and Spa. Every room has modern decor and most have a view of the lush gardens. There is broadband which is free and so is the spa.

If you want a comfortable but more affordable place to stay for the night, consider De Vere Venues Sunningdale Park. It does not fall within the category of cheap hotels but is very affordable with modern decor and amenities. It sits on 65 acres of woodland and gardens and has lovely boutique-style rooms.

Another place you will be comfortable after a day making a bet on your best horse at the racecourse is the quaint Wheatsheaf Hotel by Good Night Inns. This is one of the best b&b’s in the area. This bed and breakfast stay was put up centuries ago in 1768 on the edge of the Great Windsor Park. It’s all modern inside with air-conditioned rooms and free WiFi.

The Admirals Inn Guest House is another pocket-friendly option of b&b’s. Celebrate your victories at the races with a drink at the pub that is a stone’s throw away and wake up to a hearty, homemade breakfast. Every room has a shower, iron and hairdryer. Car parking and WiFi are free.

A day at the races will also end well at Tenterden Guest House which is less than 11 miles from history-rich Windsor. There is a choice of vegetarian dishes and every room has a private bathroom, TV, microwave, refrigerator and is decorated with modern art or colorful fabrics.

If you want flexibility but don’t want to stay at a bed and breakfast, consider renting a holiday apartment. Two top properties are self-catering Apartments Windsor and Lay Your Hat Apartments.
