Alton Towers Theme Park, located in the heart of Staffordshire, is England's most visited and largest amusement thrill park (before Legoland Windsor in Berkshire and Thorpe Theme Park near Chertsey). The park has been operating for over 30 years.
Currently it consists out of the Extraordinary 18 hole adventure golf course, Conference Centre, several hotels, a tropical Waterpark (Cariba Creek) & Spa (superior spa center).
It's an amazing day out for whole the family. In summer the queus can be long, but the rides are fabulous and totally worth the waiting, and the fireworks show in the evening is spectacular.
The amusement park is divided into 10 themed areas which are Towers Street, Mutiny Bay, Katanga Canyon, Gloomy Wood, Forbidden Valley, Dark Forest, Cloud Cuckoo Land, X-Sector, Adventure Land and Cbeebies Land.
Top sights at the park include "Nemesis" and "Air", two rollercoasters located in the Forbidden Valley area, "Congo River Rapids" in Katanga Canyon, and "Rita: Queen of Speed" in the Dark Forest area.
You can even visit the park during the closed season. Cariba Creek, the resort’s water park is still open. If you prefer a more relaxing experience, a day out to the Alton Towers Spa is a must do. The Spa also offers massages, facials and a range of other treatments.
Located alongside the monorail station, nearby Splash Landings, is the new Extraordinary Golf, 18 hole adventure golf course, offering a fun day out. The resort's Conference Centre is also open for meetings and conferences.
